Broken glass
What do you do in this situation: child goes in kitchen, child opens fridge, child drops something, yelps, and there’s the unmistakeable sound of shattering glass?
Choices:
A. You continue to sit at the table and ask repeatedly “What happened? What happened? Tell me what happened!”
B. You run from the other end of the house and extract said child from the shards of glass that are now littering the kitchen floor, then you tell all to stay away and start cleaning.
Two parents. Each picked different choices. Presumably one of them assumed the other would know better what to do. Isn’t that called… learned helplessness? Go figure.
